Spooky, Simple Halloween Porch Decor: DIY Spider Foam Board
There’s a blank wall on the front porch that has gone through a lot of phases. Welcome signs, holiday signs, and even a faux window at one point. And sometimes nothing at all, which is fine too. But after putting up the pumpkin arch this year, it felt like it needed a little something to complete the look. Enter: this spooky spider foam board. It’s one of my favorite additions to our Halloween porch decor this season, and it’s super simple and affordable to make. Here’s how to create your own!

Supplies:
- Foam boards (I used this foam insulation board, but if you want something smaller, try these!)
- *Black spray paint
- Fake spider webs
- Plastic spiders
- Velcro Command strips
- Hot glue, Gorilla Glue, or a staple gun
Simple Halloween Porch Decor Step #1: Spray-Paint the Foam Boards
I had these insulation foam boards left over from the patio planters, and they’re bright pink. Not quite the look I was going for, so I gave them a couple of coats of black spray paint, and then they were good to go! If you bought black foam boards, you can skip this step.
Simple Halloween Porch Decor Step #2: Hang the Boards
Once the boards were dry, I measured them and marked where they would go on my porch. Then I put Velcro Command strips on the wall and hung the boards. I was a little nervous they wouldn’t hold, but they did!
Simple Halloween Porch Decor Step #3: Add the Spiders and Webs
Next, stretch the webbing across the board and secure it at the edges with hot glue (a staple gun or Gorilla Glue would also work!). The key is to vary how you pull and drape it so the result looks natural, not uniform. After everything is in place, tuck spiders throughout for the finishing touch.

And just like that, you have your own custom Halloween porch decor! This works just as well inside the house too (affordable mantel centerpiece, anyone?). And the best part is that it stores flat, so it’s easy to bring back out year after year without taking up much space. That’s what I call a win!
