Fingerprint Heart Magnets Supplies:

Step #1: Make the Fingerprint Hearts

Start by grabbing your ink pads and having your child press their thumb into the ink. You may need to gently press the top of their finger to make sure the pigment really transfers. While the ink is still fresh, press their thumb onto the paper. Then, repeat the process and place a second thumbprint right next to the first, angling it slightly so the two prints meet in the middle to form a heart.

Older kids can use their other fingers to make the hearts because they have larger hands and prints! I had my oldest use his pinky.

Step #2: Cut Out the Fingerprint Heart Magnets

Once your child has made their fingerprint hearts, place the clear glass gems on top of one of the hearts and trace a circle around it. Then, you or your child will cut the circle.

If the kids are cutting the circles, be sure to use kids’ safety scissors.

Step #3: Add the Modge Podge & Magnet

Next, paint the Modge Podge onto the flat side of the glass gem and place it glue-side down on the circles you just cut out, so you can see the heart through the gem. Gently press it with your finger to make sure it’s fully adhered.

Once that’s set, add Mod Podge to the back of the paper circle and attach the magnet. Press the gem side and the magnet side together so everything bonds into one secure piece.

Now your fingerprint heart magnets are complete!
