Simple Outdoor Table with Plans
Wedding Table Construction Manual
A full instruction manual on how to build the viral outdoor wedding tables shown in my social media videos.
Recently, my sister got married, and we had a backyard reception at my parents’ house. Three days before the wedding, my mom got the idea that she wanted some outdoor tables and asked me for help. I never turn down a challenge and got to work crafting the perfect, sturdy, beautiful, simple outdoor table. I was able to cut and assemble all of them in one day, and would have been able to finish them in one day if the weather had cooperated. But I succeeded in making them all, and they turned out so good!
I created a thorough guide with all the measurements, a cut list, and step-by-step instructions for making your own table. You can get that above! But I wanted to throw in a few tips as well.

Simple Outdoor Table Supplies:
- Tape Measure
- (7) 2x4s
- (6) 2x6s
- Miter Saw
- Drill
- Screws
- Sandpaper
- Your Choice of Stain (I love this one!)
- Wood Conditioner

Simple Outdoor Table Tip #1: Cut First
I included the cut list in the guide. I encourage you to cut everything before you start. It makes it so much easier and faster.
Tip #2: Use Screws
It will be tempting to use wood glue, nails, or something else to secure the table. But I recommend just using some durable outdoor 2 or 3-inch screws. Remember, two screws in each joint. You may think one is enough, but it really needs two!
Simple Outdoor Table Tip #3: Sanding
We are making a table that will be used to sit at and eat. Not to mention, we are using raw wood. Be sure to sand it. Get a palm sander if you don’t want to do it by hand. I swear it is worth the extra step!
Tip #4: Pre-Stain and Seal
Anytime I stain something, I always recommend a wood conditioner. It evens out the wood so the stain sits on it evenly, and it gives the final project a nice, clean, smooth finish. And, like I said before, we are eating at this table. So, MAKE SURE you seal it with a clear coat. You may need to do a couple of coats. Again, don’t skip this step!
