Pipe Cleaner Wreaths: A Kid-Friendly Christmas Craft
One method I’ve discovered to keep your littles from putting their “own spin” on your Christmas decor: giving them their own to make and decorate with! These pipe cleaner wreaths are a simple, kiddo-approved holiday craft that requires minimal supervision (except when it’s time for the hot glue). They also make an easy, adorable project to do on your own or with friends!
Plus, you can display them however you choose, whether by hanging them up alone or adding them to a garland, like I did. Keep reading for the details!

Pipe Cleaner Wreaths Supplies:
- Pipe Cleaners
- Mod Podge
- Your Choice of Ribbon (I went with red and gold)
- Pearls
- Glitter
- Decorative Twine
- Hot Glue Gun
Step #1: Create the Pipe Cleaner Wreaths
To start, grab a pencil and a few pipe cleaners. Wrap the pipe cleaners around the pencil tightly, then gently remove them without stretching out the pipe cleaners. Do this 2-3 times.
Next, thread the curled pipe cleaners through a straight pipe cleaner. Repeat for each curled pipe cleaner, and leave a bit of room on either end of the straight pipe cleaner. Tie the ends together to form a knot, tying tightly. Trim the excess pipe cleaner from the ends.
Step #2: Decorate the Pipe Cleaner Wreaths
Now it’s time to decorate your pipe cleaner wreaths! Grab the Mod Podge and paint a light coat on the “front” of each wreath. Then, sprinkle glitter on them. I also added these cute pearls to mine!
Then, I cut small pieces of red and gold ribbons and tied them in a bow, hot gluing them to the top of each wreath.
Step #3: Attach the Twine
Last, it’s time to put it all together! Lay the wreaths so that the front is facing down, and space them out evenly. Grab the hot glue again and add a small dot of glue to the top of the back of each wreath. Then, place the twine on each glue dot, pressing gently so it’s firmly attached to the wreath.
Hang up your cute new garland (or help your kids hang theirs) and enjoy the festive cheer it brings to your space!
